Quantum of Solace I didnt get it! I didn't watch Casino Royale so I couldn't remember all of what I was supposed too (obviously). What happened to the corny ol bond movies. This is so much more grittier and realistic. Action was obviously state of the art. teaguemoore Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace Great movie good story line but when i see the last installment of the triology the story will be understood better and bond will be what he should of been a long time ago. fb611499395 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace Wasn't that good. Great action scenes but a very forgettable movie. Didn't see how it related to Casino Royale that much and the shaking camera movements were enough to drive you nuts. Ended like No Country for Old Men: Poorly. Overall, stick to Casino Royale. HarryPotterFanClub37 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace One of the better 007 in a while, probably because Brosnan was garbage... Huge improvement from Casino Royale... Gregory6308857 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace Individual action scenes were spectacular but overall very thin on what could have been a relevant contemporary story, and over all didn't quite hold together. The cast are brilliant though! fb516317014 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace WWBD? What would Bond do? That's the question you need to ask while viewing this. I admit, I believed the bad reviews, and held my breath during the 'awful' Bond theme (which did match the tone of the film). What a beautiful surprise to again be swept away by a newer, darker Bond. Pure Bond fans will get this movie, while others that joined the franchise as recently as 'Casino Royale' may hate it. You have to know Bond's character, which has been slowly built up through decades of development. I do know Bond, and there are 2 things Bond fans know about him as well. 1. Bond HATES an unfinished job. 2. When a man like Bond allows himself to really feel, the vulnerability is too much. When a man like Bond loses the only true love of his life through the cheat of death, he does as M says.. he gets blinded by his rage. Here's where the question comes in. What would a man like Bond do in this situation? He would not stop until his wrath is sated. That's what this movie is about, pure and simple. We are looking through Bond's eyes, and I might go so far as to say the audience 'becomes' Bond, and feels his rage right along with him. While there is no real sex to be had, and virtually no gadgets, and no Q again, it doesn't matter. This is not about the crutches of previous Bond films. This is about character development, and about Bond on his 2nd adventure, still untempered, still vulnerable to his untamed emotions. My favourite part was watching the 'bond' grow between he and his MI6 mother, M (perhaps for Mum). The only flaw is that if you are not a true Bond watcher, you most likely will not 'get' this picture, and will leave unsatisfied, after being quenched by the resurrection of 007 in 'Casino'. All I can say is, get to know Bond, and rewatch Quantum... then you may just do as I did, and smile through the entire film. fb717619702 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace Daniel Craig makes other Bonds all looks like sissies in this film; Olga Kurylenko is hot; but it's a bit bland in terms of content. fb636891425 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace Wasn't as well directed as Casino Royal, pretty good action though. I did leave the theater with a headache educed confusing. Felt very fragmented. fb579772933 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace Liian nopeaa leikkausta toimintakohtauksissa, ei pieni ihminen pysy perässä!!! Ja Daniel edelleen venäläisen roiston näköinen..Muuten hyvä. fb743786940 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace Stoerrrrr! James Bond getting dirtyyy, hehehe. Dirty birdie goeie look voor Daniel.. Hehe. Dus. Ja. Nou ja verder niks speciaals ofzo.. fb1263621439 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace I hear the hardcore Bond fans crying 'Nay!'... I say, bring on more of this level of character exploration. Thank God for a Bond with whom I can relate. This guy sort of makes me want to cheer. fb563609356 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace Man muss ihn doch zwei mal sehen. Der Film ist gut, aber leider kein Bond. Ich hoffe sehr, dass Daniel Craig im nächsten Film zu Bond wird. Ich bin überzeugt, dass er ein guter wäre... fb1187381296 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace Great action, loved the story too. Sometimes there was so much going on, I didn't really understand. Loved it just the same, and love Craig as 007! So charming and bad ass!! fb591870858 Nov 4, 2008
Quantum of Solace Who ever doesn't like this movie clearly doesn't get what the filmmakers were trying to do. This movie is a perfect addition to the story of how bond becomes a 007. It is all part of his training. Yes, maybe a little cheesy, but by not killing the boyfriend at the end they made the point that he has grown and now ready to become a 007. Action sequences were great, Daniel Craig was every bit as good as the previous movie and the direction and visual looks of the movie were impeccable. My only complain would be the unnecessary use of special effects in some fight scenes and the opening credit didn't measure to any of the previous movies. fb761148133 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace Meh. I liked that he channels McQueen, but overall it's two hours of suck that looks like they got a deal at a designer sunglasses store. fb2520706 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace I like the new generation James Bond movies - fewer gadgets, more grit and actually some character growth and sensible dialogue, instead of the same old cardboard character who just uttered one-liners. Still plenty of well-directed and fast-paced action. Daniel Craig has a tendency to pout a bit too much, but I'm willing to overlook that! Thoroughly enjoyable movie - go see. fb676292993 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace From the very first scene Quantum of Solace pulls you in and doesn't let go. It's all there: the breathtaking landscapes, fast cars, evil villains, sexy women and everything else you have come to expect from a Bond movie. It echoes the great Bond films of past, going back to it's roots. You could say it's a classic Bond movie, only it's not. It's much grittier, edgier and darker. Craig portrays a cynical, cold and callous Bond haunted by his past, bringing a forth a not-so-lovable rogue agent. The attention has definately been in the detail, all the scenes are beautifully shot, my only critisism is would be directed at the chase and fight scenes, where the shaky, almost point-of-view style of filming gives it a chaotic feel. Where in the vintage Bond movies you could say the bad were really bad and the good were really good, Quantum of Solace blurs the edges. Not knowing who to trust you find yourself sucked into Bond's growing paranoia, feeling uneasy and on the edge of your seat until the very end. mintsu Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace Olga Kurylenko is a total hottie! Liked the movie, though it was a bit messy at some points. Still think that Daniel Graig doesn't look like Bond, though he is a great actor. fb1194755142 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace I am in agreement with my Flixster buddy Monty. Daniel Craig's Bond needs to take a holiday and lighten up JUST A BIT. Wouldn't it be great if they actually wrote him on vacation for Craig's last installment? Yes, you might as well face it now. He's leaving. Just when you get used to him... like network television... GONE. At the same time he's damaged and tired. Bond... not Craig. I think the cast mentioned it throughout the whole film. I know one thing for sure. I needed a nap after all those quick edits and shakey shots over the rooftops. (let's face it... there's a distinct possibility that I'm too old for this ****) THEN... he'd change a shirt, bend a certain way or walk away from the camera slowly and I was right back to "Hello G'ovnah!". Ahhh... Bond, YUMMY, Bond. I have to say that Daniel Craig's 1960's costumes were interesting. They had an almost Cary Grant look to them. I'm not going to GO OFF about the SPFX or chase scenes because, frankly, everyone else has. The music is great, but the sound in the theatre I saw it in was cranked up about two steps higher than it should have been, so it was physically hurting the audience. No, really. I watched them! SIDEBAR: Please don't judge Gemma Arterton by this role. Strawberry Fields was the saddest BOND GIRL I have ever seen. Her character wasn't written to be anything more than a body on a bed (rip off of GOLDFINGER). Look for Gemma in THE BOAT THAT ROCKED with an all star cast in April 2009. I want to talk about the flow of this 007 film. It glided and transitioned so smoothly I felt no other people around me. That's one of my favorite things to happen during a film. In a less positive light, I thought to myself, "Any moment now Kimmer... wait for it... the REAL villain will show up and make THIS Bond film the best out of all of them." But, ALAS, that did not happen. Screaming like a little girl during hand combat with Britain's best is not my idea of good casting for a bad guy. Sorry... I had to go there. SPOILER ALERT: He dies a really ugly death, but we don't get to see it at all. DAMN THEM. Lastly, I have to say that I love Dame Judi Dench. I really do. Everything I see her in, she rocks. She's the BEST "M" hands down. eclectickimmer Sep 6, 2008
Quantum of Solace A lot of action. but the camera was to shakey. couldn't see much of it. All in all it was a pretty good movie. fb1476195613 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace boring movie no more special gadgets and breifing how to use them ...more than a target dirty harry shootlist movie fb713098222 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace Yes people...remember this movie is a sequel. Not bad. Lots of action, but not enough I thought. Craig really is a good Bond...cold and suave at the same time. Not the best Bond ever, but worth seeing. bobbydigital04 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace A solid continuation with some of the most ferocious and brutal pieces of action and fighting ever to be witnessed in a James Bond movie. It's relentless. I thought it worked well very viscerally at times, especially the more inventive camera work. It's globe trotting and well shot, as Bond films usually are, but it's a brutal revenge story through and through. Bond is almost a hero and a villain mixed up. He does things here, one sequence in particular involving a dead body, that was just so sad to me. To him it seems like an afterthought -- for us and those around him... it's dangerously sociopathic. I loved moments like these. It may be more of an action show, but it absolutely didn't forget to elaborate on what kind of a person Bond has become and what Ian Flemming's idea of him really was. I also think it's worthy of note that the opera house sequence is one of the most impressive pieces of filmmaking technicality I've seen put into a Bond film in a long time. Phenomenal. Camille is also a great Bond girl. Intelligent, beautiful, and the way she paralleled Bond's inner struggle was fantastic. "James Bond Will Return." I can sleep a little easier each time I read that these days. fb504173502 Sep 5, 2008
Quantum of Solace The 007 series takes a step in a new direction, and ends up becoming an average action flick. This movie took all the greatness of Casino Royale and soiled it. fb2509896 Nov 4, 2008
Quantum of Solace Quite disappointing. Good action movie, but not a Bond movie, it felt more like a Bourne's one. Where's Monipenny? Where's Q? No bond girl??? fb734789016 Nov 11, 2008
Quantum of Solace SUCKED. Daniel Craig is no James Bond, that's for sure. Crap on this film. The only plus to this were some of the action scenes - very realistic. Other than that, CRAP. fb5033134 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace Another Bond for the books. A nice follow-up in terms of character development but completely forgettable in terms of plot. It was a little more angsty than I'm used to seeing in Bond, though I'm glad the martini still made an appearance. The action scenes, while breathless, take it just a step too far, making it extremely difficult to hang on to the thread of storytelling. I noticed the sex was played down quite a bit, can't decide if that's an improvement or not, it's usually just a given in a Bond movie. Dench gives a spot-on performance again and kudos to the stunning Kurylenko for a strong presence. Despite its flaws, the last action sequence left me with chills and that's what really stayed with me. So get out there and get your Bond fix. You won't regret it. unicornofbalinor Nov 16, 2008
Quantum of Solace You know what...I didn't actually mind it. Even though the story was a bit thin and some of the connecting sequences left out I thought it wasan ok flick. Action sequences were generally good apart from the sometimes a bit too energetic camera work. All in all I thought it was an ok Bond film. fb576480776 Nov 21, 2008
Quantum of Solace There is definitely more action than Casino Royale, and I think that was its strength. Though they do shoot the action in the way I don't like (i.e. the Bourne Supremacy style-up close and so personal you can't' tell who is who) there were several scenes that were visually stunning, like the opera scene. That, and there's something very true feeliing about how THIS James Bond would deal with heart break, which would be to kill a lot of people. I think five people die before the title credits. And they dont' stop short of that. But the Bond girl was interesting and M was still the spitfire she always is in the newer movies. I can't wait to see what these guys churn out next. merlintriss Aug 17, 2008
Quantum of Solace Saw it opening day and it was amazing! Action, humor, hot chicks, and Bond! Although I would've like to see more Bond-isms (i.e. "Bond, James Bond") But hey I can learn to settle lol. Great chase scenes, fight scenes, and even some good twists. No gadgets yet, but the film manages to impress regardless. Overall it's a MUST! fb689672812 Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace i had quite a lot of expectations from the movie and though i wasnt disappointed it didnt actually make me jump from my seat! It had great action scenes but nothing memorable.. Casino Royale was awesome, its stunts are sketched on my mind.. though definitely one of the good movies of the Bond series, it was ok for me! fb502302771 Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace Slightly disappointing, only because Casino Royale was so amazing. The intro was horrendous, my eyes and ears are still bleeding. Almost non-stop action, but the story was a little thin, and if you haven't seen the first one you'll have no idea what's going on. Still, one of the greatest Bond films...I can't wait for the next one. fb546035067 Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace Casino Royale is a very tough act to follow, and this film does not quite get there, especially with a first act that feels more like a string of action set pieces with very tenuous connections. However, the second act evens out the pace and gives the film some depth and grittiness, and more than once I caught myself grinning from ear to ear. The film really rests on Daniel Craig and Judi Dench. Dench's M has always been something special, and Craig continues to bring a hard reality to the world of espionage. The bit players do well... Olga Kurylenko's Camille is well played, and she was clearly cast for more than her stunning looks. The return of the characters of Gianni's Mathis was a nice touch, especially to fans who love the character from the Ian Fleming novels, and it is about time the same actor played Felix Leiter in two running films, and Jeffry Wright is one of the most convincing to date. So if you go expecting another Casino Royale, you may be disappointed, but if you go in want good escapist 007 fun, this is what this film delivers!! bowlesy811 Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace Oh dear. What a disappointment. When I go to a Bond film, I expect to be able to actually see the stunts. The character is a bore this time around. The story is incomprehensible. You know you're in trouble when the best thing about a Bond film is M. fb806396529 Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace Count me as disappointed. I don't fault Craig. If nothing else he gave Tom Ford a reason move away from the awful super-70s peak lapel suits he's been peddling since he re-entered the menswear market. The Forster/Haggis team is primarily to blame. With the casting of Amalric there's a sense that they had high brow intentions, but just like the faux-Iranian "Kite Runner", they mangle everything. The crosscutting is is really awful- especially since the scenes they intermingle are seemingly only there to differentiate this from any other generic Bourne inspired Dogme action film. The performance art opera is embarrassing, but the smug (and entirely empty) references to "The Passenger" and Almodovar's bullfighting sequences are infuriating. Like Craig, Amalric holds his own- and must have had some fun hamming it up, but he's playing the same rake that he made famous with Desplechin and Assayas. His fists are no match for the sharp dialogue he delivers in his better work. The whole thing amounts to nothing. The fun is gone and little is offered in return. The action scenes are edited so poorly that I found my mind wandering to entirely banal subjects like whether I have any yogurt left for tomorrow's breakfast. What little I saw of the promotional material suggested a precise, unrelenting quest for revenge. This was approached through little more than asides and the few "edgy" moments were random and out of touch with the rest of the film. A good comparison to the crotch shot was the out of nowhere rape in "Showgirls". That alone is enough to make you question the creators. Whatever. At least the Bond's Russian overcoat had a stunningly constructed shoulder. richardgustave Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace Daniel Craig, you da man!!! Honestly, I was skeptical while watching the trailer for Casino Royale, but these are the best two Bond Movies, BY FAR!!! fb767166601 Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace After the excellent Casino Royale, one would expect Solace to be a bigger, better film. Whilst it fails to be as tense and as exciting as Royale, Solace nevertheless manages to be an entertaining, yet flawed action thriller. Craig proves once again that he is the best actor to portray Bond and he is matched every step of the way by the always reliable Judi Dench, who thankfully has more to do in this film. Fantastic action sequences are a plus, yet shaky camera work, choppy editing and an uninteresting villian are the drawbacks. Not as long as Royale, yet not as good, Solace is still an entertaining film in the franchise. Enjoyable, yet a little bit dissapointing. fb563381032 Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace This is the first Bond movie I've watched all the way through without getting distracted or falling asleep. The action scenes were intense, the ending sequence kept me on the edge of my seat, there was NO sex at all, I wasn't sure what was going on at least 92% of the time. But overall a fun movie. Slash, the Bond Girl is hot and independent. NOT DULL. fb1544910207 Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace Pretty wicked with lots of action, rediculous explosive situations, and sex... but it's really hard to measure up to the perfection that was Casino Royale. fb1912345 Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace The story was okay, but I was disappointed overall. It wasn't anywhere near the quality of Casino Royale. The opening scene was too difficult to follow and the camera movement was horrible. fb526349223 Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace Okay so it wasnt the greatest Bond movie, or even the greatest movie but you have to look at the big picture. This movie is great because of the larger story being told. This is the 2nd part of the 2 part series on the creation story of Bond. From here we can get back to the formula and introduce moneypenny and Q. So judge it in the effort to restart the Bond series anew rather than this being just another Bond. fb293200008 Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace Oh bond! what hav u dun? terrible plot, no real story, blind action, confused viewers & botched theme song...dat explains Quantum of Solace. Waste of time, even if you r planning to watch it at home. End was so quick, it felt as if the movi was cut in half. Bond Girl's accent doesn't cut it well & there r no usual bond gadgets/cars/mind game. Simply put, the worst bond movie ever made. fb708845436 Nov 20, 2008
Dostana So all that Karan Johar touches isn't crap! Definitely a must watch. Priyanka Chopra is looking hot, Good humour and some very good acting especially from Abhishek Bachchan (surprising!) and Boman Irani. Oh and Priyanka Chopra is looking hot! Did I say that already? fb569560721 Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace This is a great follow up to Casino Royale, though not as good. I like that they are keeping the stories coherent and not jumping to entirely new plots like the old Bond films. The action is enjoyable without being over-the-top. The cinematography is in league with the Bourne movies but with a bit more artistry added. fb176700876 Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace My first viewing was a real disappointment. I will be able to give a better review upon a second viewing. goatman33503480 Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace i love that it's a sequel! the franchise needed a sequel, and i give it points solely on that point. it does not disappoint. i see it as like the second "matrix" film [which i quite enjoyed]... by itself the film doesn't compare to the first, but as a sequel it's fantastic. many more classic bond elements that fit seamlessly into the new bond universe, and visual references to the earlier films. we have the international shady organization Quantum standing in for Spectre. we have agent fields, who we learn in the credits is "strawberry fields", a wonderfully typical bond-girl name. i eagerly await the next film, which should have much more room for plot than this film did. by the end of it you can see bond evolving more towards the debonnaire gent of old.. he's beginning to loosen up a little. i'm not sure where they'll take that aspect, but i can't wait to find out! fb53600738 Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace Lacks the heart of Casino Royale, granted, but full bodied regardless. Solidly packed with dazzling action sequences, and stunningly choreographed urban "parkour" chases. A ridiculously pleasurable joyride. And I don't care what anyone says, I 'm crazy about the villain. fb704405239 Nov 20, 2008
Quantum of Solace I understand that the 007 people want to try and cash in on the new craze of "serious" action pictures where, y'know, there's like complexity and stuff. But while the women may still want him (of all people my own mother still cant get over the speedo shot from Casino Royale), I'm not sure how many men would still want to be him. This is a cold, ruthless SOB, without much at all a wit or a grin, wavering between personal vendetta and one-track-professionalism, and I certainly wouldn't want to trade places with this Bond. Maybe that's a credit to Craig who in his own right is probably as talented and interesting an actor as Connery was in the opposite end of the spectrum. But it doesn't make it that much fun... Which also brings me to another complain: Marc Forster. For all of his decent handling of scenes involving the plot- or the wise casting of Mathiew Amalric who proves a great villain in any context- he's a shitty action director, or rather a shitty collaborator with the editors. Maybe once every 30 seconds of SUPER-FAST cuts in these sequences could I tell what was going on where. I understand the need to push the envelope of intensity, but this is just getting sloppy. At least Martin Campbell had the experience of working on a Bond before and could harnass the physical energy with the camera. Forster, for all of his aspirations to make an "anti-Bon" picture, can't do it all right. He's no Christopher Nolan, that's for fucking sure. fb33703014 Nov 5, 2008
Quantum of Solace It was a bit dizzying at first but a lot better further into the movie. The plot was confusing and nothing was clear until the end of the film. Basically, it was as expected another great action movie to watch and just go brainless for a while. lilco37 Nov 20, 2008
